Tonight I'm playing at The 5 Spot in East Nashville with my band, alongside Derek Hoke and Zach Broocke. It's going to be a wicked show. Music is from 9:00pm. New songs will be heard. Good times shall be shared. You'd be crazy to miss it.
This is a five dollar bill issued by the Confederate States Of America, after secession from the Union in 1861 and just prior to the outbreak of The Civil War. This particular note apparently dates from 1864, by which time it was nearly worthless due to inflation. After the war the notes ceased to be valid currency, and one was reputedly found in Abraham Lincoln's pocket after he was assassinated at Ford's Theatre in Washington DC.
