Pale

A project I was involved in earlier this year is getting off the ground and is being released before the new year! Warm Evening, Pale Mornings is more than a tribute album, it's an album of respect and love between a bunch of us songwriters and performers here in Melbourne. It was masterminded by Brooke Russell and Fraser Montgomery over at The Aviary recording studios, and you'll be able to hear it soon. Before we can put it out though, we need a little bit of help with pre-orders to help cover printing costs, but there's a ton of perks, including passes to the launch gig at The Gasometer in Melbourne on December 8th!

Milk

I'm up in Brisbane this week, and playing an album launch show at The Milk Factory on Friday September 23rd! You'll also get musical sets from the great Silent Feature Era, and a special once-in-a-blue-moon solo performance by Richard Johnston (Our Ithaca Creek). Cover's only $10, and it all kicks off at about 8:00pm. Come see me and the band kick it through our tunes in Brisbane for the only time this year.

The good people at The Northsider here in Melbourne featured me as one of their local artist profiles last week too. You can check it out here at their website.

If you haven't heard the new record yet, then you can do so by heading on over to the sounds page of this site and stream it - or if you want to support me (which would be great), you can buy and download it too.

Brisbane

I'm playing a show in Brisbane with the band! I guess it's like an album launch gig or something, just for the QLD folks. It's at The Milk Factory on Friday September 23rd, and will also feature my good pals Silent Feature Era and Richard Johnston (in solo mode).

My album Canyons is out now too, and you can stream/buy it from the store, or from the usual suspects in Spotify, iTunes, et al.

Launch

It's happening! I'm launching my new album 'Canyons' at The Gasometer Hotel on Sunday August 28th! It's a special early evening show that kicks off at 4:00pm with a performance from one of my favourite Melbourne bands On Diamond, then followed by Darling James, and then I'll be on afterwards with a specially augmented band to perform the album.

Pre-booked tickets are only $10 plus booking fee, and you can get them from the Gasometer website here. Otherwise, you can get them on the door for $12. It's been a while since I've done an album release show, so it'd be great to see you down there!

Standard

Our next show is on Sunday July 24th at The Standard in Fitzroy. It's a great venue, and we're doing two sets from 7:00pm. I'll be the guy onstage fooling around with a guitar.

I've also got some pretty exciting news coming up regarding album release and launch shows! Stay tuned...

Arun Roberts, Jim Lawrie, Amaya Laucirica, CP, and Emily Ulman line up at The Gasometer, July 12th 2016. Photo by Laura Imbruglia, and you should check out her great web series Amateur Hour!

Bounds

I'm pretty stoked that my next show is going to be a part of The Leaps and Bounds Festival, staged by the Yarra Council over the next couple of weeks. On Tuesday July 12th, I'll be playing a few songs solo as part of one of two Songwriter nights at The Gasometer Hotel, and on the night I play I'll be joined by Alice Skye, Amaya Laucirica, Arun Roberts (Dirt Hand), Bob Harrow (Immigrant Union), Emily Ulman, Fiona Lee Maynard, Jack Howard, Jim Lawrie, and Laura Imbruglia. It'll be a great night of songwriter rounds, and some of the best local talent on display too.

I'll be doing another DJ set a couple of days after that too, at The Catfish in Fitzroy on Thursday July 14th from 8:00-11:00pm or thereabouts. Come and hear me spin some Blues, Psychedelica, Krautrock Jams, and music of the Sahara.

After that, my next show with the Experiment will be at The Standard in Fitzroy on Sunday July 24th. Two sets, no regrets.

Also, a very big thanks to the mighty Rockdogs FC for having me along at the Community Cup over last weekend. It's great to be part of such a magnificent team, and it was a great victory to boot.

Leaps

Things just keep rolling on. Plans are being finalised for an album release later this year, so keep watching this space for more details on that.

My next show is on July 12th for the Leaps And Bounds Music Festival, as part of their 'Songwriters in the Round' series. I'll just be playing a few songs in a solo setting as part of a collection of great local songwriters, so it's a real privilege to join them onstage. The lineup for that night will be:

Alice Skye
Amaya Laucirica
Arun Roberts (Dirt Hand)
Bob Harrow (Immigrant Union)
Chris Pickering
Emily Ulman
Fiona Lee Maynard
Jack Howard
Jim Lawrie
Laura Imbruglia

Get your tickets for that show form the Leaps and Bounds website.

The Experiment will be saddling up again for another gig on Sunday July 24th at The Standard in Fitzroy. It's one of my favourite bars, so that should be a fun time.
