Federation

Well, hello 2016. It's going to be a good year, I reckon. Some exciting projects coming up, and a new album to be released.

My first gig of the year is going to be on Thursday February 4th at Federation Square, in the heart of Melbourne city. I'll be playing as part of the Fed Square Live Series, which is hosted on the 4th by my digital distributor, Ditto Music. I'll be playing solo, and it kicks off at the pleasant hour of 5:30pm. Hopefully the weather is kind to us that evening.

The Days Grow Longer

Well, 2015 is drawing to a close. It's gone by quick, but it's seen me release some new music, perform a whole bunch of gigs with my band in Melbourne, and a spot at the inaugural Dashville Skyline festival too, back in October.

The year's not finished yet though, and I'm thrilled to say that my single 'Canyons' was added to Songpickr's Spotify playlist of the 'Best Songs of 2015', alongside a whole bunch of really great artists. You can check it out here at http://bit.ly/bestsongs2015. Thanks Songpickr team!

Speaking of 'Best of 2015', a bunch of great people I know released new music this year too, and you should definitely check them out:

Dan Parsons - Valleywood LP
Margo Price - Hurtin' On The Bottle
Ben Salter - The Stars My Destination
Silver Springs - Like A Child
WILSN - Walkin' For Days
Darling James - Ultimatum Talk
Lachlan Bryan and The Wildes - The Mountain

More new music from me and more gigs to come next year, but in the meantime have a safe holiday season and Happy New Year. Thanks so much for all your support this year.

Spring

It's going to be a little quiet on the gig front for the next couple of months, as I try to do some more writing and see out the rest of the year. There might be a gig or two in the works before the end of the year though, so stay tuned. In the meantime, check out the clip for my single, 'Canyons'. It's good for late night drives, apparently. Although, it'd probably be cool for any drive, really.

Guests

Wow, what a treat it was to back up the great Leo Rondeau before our band set at Spotted Mallard. Put me in a honky-tonk bar band any day of the week.

We had a bunch of fun during our set too, it was nice to stretch the legs of some of our longer material back home in Melbourne. Thanks to everyone who came out.

Next show in Melbourne is a special solo show for me, at one of my favourite places in town, Some Velvet Morning on Friday Oct 30th. It's free entry, and is going to feature a number of special guests, including an opening set from Matthew Colin. It's a listening room, so bring your ears.

If you are in the Bellarine Peninsula though, I'll be playing solo at Saints and Sailors in Portarlington this Sunday October 18th from 2:30pm, alongside Sarah Carroll. It'll be a nice weekend for some out of town music.

Round & Rondeau

What a fun weekend at Dashville Skyline 2015. Thanks to everyone who came to watch our set, and for all the nice messages as well. I'm glad you all enjoyed it. We'll be back up in Sydney and NSW to play again soon, hopefully.

Next show is next Thursday October 15th at The Spotted Mallard with the great Leo Rondeau from Austin, TX. It'll be a great show, so come on down. Free entry, folks. Free entry.

This photo was taken by Kell Stoner at Dashville, and she's takes a mean picture. Check out her photography website Little Story and you'll see what I mean.

Northbound

This coming week, the band and I are heading north, for some shows up in NSW. On Friday October 2nd, we'll be playing at Petersham Bowls Club, along with Leo Rondeau from Austin, TX, my good buddy Dan Waters, and Dave Garnham and the Reasons to Live.

Then, the following day, we'll be playing at Dashville Skyline Festival, at Lower Belford in NSW's glorious Hunter Valley. It's going to be a hell of a weekend, so come along and spend it with us.

We had a great time at The Pinnacle too a few nights ago. Here's a photo from the evening, featuring the great Steve Pope in his first gig back in the fold. Things are sounding good...

Melbourne folks, don't fret. We'll be back in town and playing a show with Leo Rondeau (USA) at The Spotted Mallard on Thursday October 15th...

Pins & Needles

I'm hitting the stage with my band this Thursday September 24th at The Pinnacle Hotel in North Fitzroy. Louis Spoils is going to open up with a solo set, and it'll be a good musical note to the week. Everyone needs music, even you. Free entry, music kicks off at 8:30pm.

Next week, the boys and I are hitting the road to play in Sydney on Friday Oct 2nd at The Petersham Bowls Club, then Dashville Skyline on Oct 3rd. Cosmic Australian Indie-Twang music. I guess that's pretty much what we do.

Soonsville

In a month's time, I'm thrilled to be playing at Dashville Skyline Festival, at the site of The Gumball festival in the beautiful Hunter Valley of NSW. It's celebration of Americana music, but also ventures into the realms of psychedelica and twanging indie-rock, like I do. I'll be there with the band, and it'll be a hell of a good time. Check out the details and get ticketing info here at the Dashville Skyline homepage. Here's a little video to get your curiosity going too....

Retreat

I'm playing a headline show at The Retreat Hotel on Thursday September 27th, and joining me for the ride will be the mighty Brooke Russell and the Mean Reds, and local songstress Heloise. I may even have to dye my hair red for the occasion. My trusty band will be along for the ride as usual, and it's going to be a fun time. It's free entry, and kicks off at 8:00pm.

Seen the clip to my new single 'Canyons' yet? Here it is, filmed in the great state of Queensland, and directed by my talented brother Vincent Pickering.
